Class Duration: 4 Days Classroom- May 27/28 Field/Burn Days- June 5/6 No agency Affiliation is needed to attend this course. **PLEASE READ CAREFULLY** There are two required classroom days and two required field/burn days for this course. This course provides information and develops skills required to perform and hold firing operations on wildland fires and prescribed burns. This course contains a mix of online and instructor-led training including live fire exercises. The students will be engaged in wildland firefighting and firing operations. Students are required to complete the online training portion of the course and pre-course quizzes prior to taking the instructor-led training. This course meets and exceeds the objectives of the NWCG S-219 Firing Operations (2014) course. *Once you have registered for this class through this site, instructions will be sent on how to complete the online component for S-219; and the two required pre-course quizzes. You must bring the following to class: 1. State Fire Training ID number 2. Note taking supplies 3. A computer or tablet capable of accessing the internet You must bring the following to the field/burn days: Hardhat Firefighting gloves Work boots- non steel toe Eye protection Ear protection Nomex pants Nomex long sleeve shirt Fire line pack with fire shelter Prerequisites: • NWCG Wildland Firefighter Type 1 (FFT1); and • S-290: Intermediate Wildland Fire Behavior (classroom only)
Cancellation Policy
To cancel your registration and receive a refund you need to contact Southern Sierra Fire Training at least 30-calendar days prior to the first day of the class. A $20 refund processing fee will be deducted from the total refund amount for each class canceled. However, if you cancel your registration within 30-calendar days of the first day of class, you can carryover your registration towards any class we offer now or in the future. You will not lose your class registration. Just contact us to cancel and/or to apply your cancelled registration towards another Southern Sierra Fire Training class.
